Engineered Hardwood Over Sheet Vinyl
I have sheet vinyl over 1 4 luan underlayment in my kitchen and carpet in my dining room.
Engineered hardwood over sheet vinyl. I intend to remove the carpet and install 1 4 luan over top of subfloor in the dining room. They rank the same as medium end engineered hardwood and cost the same amount as well. And again we have the same issues as the peel and stick. It comes in a roll that is cut to size.
This condition would make direct installation over the wood difficult. Vinyl sheet can install over almost any existing floor type provided it is smooth flat and dry. But since we d never deter a diyer who s up for a challenge we offer plenty of great support with tips and step by step instructions. It too has to be anchored somehow.
One of the evolutions of the do it yourself industry has been the creation of easy to use and easy to install products such as vinyl plank flooring. Sheet vinyl is not an upgrade. Solid hardwood or engineered wood flooring may serve as bases for vinyl flooring. Back to square one.
My intention is to install cortec pro plus spc planks so to make one entire floor in both rooms. Wood flooring of this type would need an intervening underlayment. The end result is that the original wood flooring aka reclaimed wood flooring could be waiting under the vinyl just waiting for its renaissance. For the best results we highly recommend considering an armstrong certified installer.
That normally means adhesives. As an installer i ve always been skeptical of leaving an older vinyl floor in place and gluing over top of it. We ll get into the latter further down the page. I want to leave the sheet vinyl in place in the kitchen.
Single solid surface makes it an excellent choice for moisture prone rooms like kitchens and baths. Most wood flooring installed on concrete are glued type installations while others are floated. Vinyl sheet is a resilient flooring that people often use as an alternative to natural stone ceramic tile or even hardwood. Here s where it can become tricky.
Ceramic and stone tile vinyl and laminate flooring tile and sheet linoleum hardwood planks and decorative concrete can all be installed over existing linoleum. The floating vinyl planks are considered a medium end floor. Old solid hardwood can cup or swell over time too.
